What we collect
Information you give us
When you complete a form on this website — a quote request, a free site survey request, or a contact form — we ask for:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your telephone number
- Your postcode
- Details of the work you are enquiring about, where you choose to provide them
If you telephone or email us instead, we keep a record of that correspondence.
Information collected automatically
When a form is submitted, our website also records information about how you arrived — for example which advert, search or web page brought you here. This is stored alongside your enquiry so we know which of our marketing is working.
We also collect standard technical information through the analytics and advertising services described below, including your approximate location, the pages you view, the device and browser you use, and how long you spend on the site.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| What we do with it | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Respond to your enquiry and prepare a quotation | Steps taken at your request before entering into a contract |
| Arrange and carry out a site survey or the work itself | Performance of a contract |
| Keep records of work carried out, invoices and guarantees | Legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in running the business |
| Understand which adverts and pages produce enquiries | Our legitimate interest in measuring and improving our marketing, and your consent where cookies are involved |
| Send you marketing about our services | Your consent, or our legitimate interest where you are an existing customer. You can opt out at any time |
Cookies and tracking
This website uses cookies and similar technologies. When you first visit, a consent banner lets you accept or reject anything that is not strictly necessary. You can change your choice at any time through that banner.
The services we use are:
- Google Analytics — to understand how people use the site. Google may process this data outside the UK.
- Google Tag Manager — to manage the tags on this site. It does not itself collect personal data.
- Microsoft Advertising (Bing) — to measure which adverts lead to enquiries.
- Google Ads — to measure which adverts lead to enquiries.
These services set cookies on your device and may combine what they collect here with information they hold from other websites. Where they rely on your consent, nothing is set until you give it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
We do share it with:
- Our website and email hosting providers, who store it on our behalf
- The customer relationship system we use to manage enquiries and quotations
- The analytics and advertising services listed above
- Our professional advisers, insurers and accountants where necessary
- Any authority we are legally required to disclose information to
Some of these providers are based outside the United Kingdom. Where information is transferred abroad, we rely on the safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become work: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Customer records: for the length of the relationship and for six years afterwards, to meet tax and accounting requirements and to honour guarantees.
- Analytics data: according to the retention settings of the services above, typically no more than 14 months.
How we protect it
Our website uses an encrypted connection. Access to enquiry records is limited to people who need it to do their job. Our systems are protected by passwords and, where available, two-factor authentication.
No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and we will tell you and the Information Commissioner’s Office if there is a breach that is likely to affect your rights.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Ask us to delete your information, where there is no good reason for us to keep it
- Object to us using your information, including for marketing
- Ask us to restrict how we use it while a concern is resolved
- Ask for your information in a portable format
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To exercise any of these, email letstalk@uspcoatings.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office:
