The work

What office window spraying involves

Office window spraying is the respraying of your existing window frames where they sit in the building. Nothing comes out of the wall: the glazing and surrounds are masked, the frames are prepared, and a commercial coating is applied by spray to a uniform, factory-look finish.

We spray the substrates office buildings are actually built with — powder-coated aluminium and uPVC most often, along with steel and timber frames — and we work on both external elevations and internal frames. Weathered, faded or chalky frames come back to a solid, even colour; frames in a dated colour can be changed completely as part of a rebrand or refurbishment.

The alternative is replacement, and for most office buildings it is the wrong first answer. Frames that are structurally sound do not need to come out — they need recoating.

Why spray, not replace

Recoating against replacement

Three things decide it for most building owners and facilities managers.

The cost

Spraying works out around 80% cheaper than replacing and installing new windows, because you are paying for preparation and coating rather than manufacture, removal and refitting.

No building work

No frames out of the wall means no builders’ openings, no making good, no scaffolding programme built around glazing contractors. The fabric of the building is untouched.

Days, not weeks

A spraying programme is measured in days. The office carries on working while the finish cures, and there is no waste stream of skipped frames and glass.

Not sure whether your frames are sound enough to spray?

Send us photographs, or book the free survey and we will tell you either way.

Offices in use

Working around a building full of people

An office cannot smell of paint on Monday morning, and reception cannot be behind sheeting during business hours. We plan the work around that.

Where the building needs to stay fully open, we work evenings and weekends, so staff arrive to finished frames rather than a work zone. Where daytime work is agreed, it is contained and phased — an elevation, a floor or a wing at a time — with work areas masked and sheeted and access agreed with your facilities team before anyone arrives.

Internal frames are treated the same way: masked, contained and sequenced so meeting rooms and desks are out of use for hours, not days.

Out-of-hours shifts

Evening and weekend working where the office cannot lose daytime access.

Specification

Preparation, colour and guarantee

The finish is only as good as the preparation underneath it. Frames are degreased and cleaned back, damaged or corroded areas are repaired and treated, and the surface is abraded and primed where the substrate needs it. Only then is the coating applied.

The colour is whatever the building needs — any RAL or BS reference, including corporate brand colours, a match to the original frame colour, or a full colour change. We spray out a sample for sign-off before the main work starts, so the colour is agreed on the actual frames rather than off a chart.

The coating system itself is specified for exterior exposure: a hard-wearing finish resistant to chipping, peeling, UV fading and weathering, carrying a coating guarantee of up to 20 years, confirmed in writing with the quote.

Compliance

Accreditations, RAMS and insurance

Everything your procurement team asks for, in writing, before we get on site.

USP Coatings is CHAS accredited and every operative holds a valid CSCS card. We carry £10 million public liability insurance and send the certificate with the quote. Full risk assessments and method statements — RAMS — are issued for approval before any work begins, on every project, without being asked.

FAQs

Office window spraying FAQs

Can you spray aluminium and uPVC window frames?

Yes. Powder-coated aluminium and uPVC are the two most common office window substrates and both respray well. We also coat steel and timber frames — the survey confirms the right preparation and system for each.

Do we have to close the office while you work?

No. We work evenings and weekends where the building cannot lose daytime access, and daytime work is contained and phased — an elevation, floor or wing at a time — so the office keeps operating.

How long does office window spraying take?

It is measured in days rather than weeks, depending on the number of windows and elevations. The survey report sets out a programme for your building before any work is booked.

Is spraying really cheaper than replacing the windows?

Yes — spraying works out around 80% cheaper than replacing and installing new windows, because sound frames stay in the wall and you pay for preparation and coating rather than manufacture and refitting.

Can you match our corporate colours?

Yes. Any RAL or BS reference, including brand colours, a match to the existing frame colour, or a complete colour change. A sample is sprayed for approval before the main work starts.

What guarantee do you offer?

A coating guarantee of up to 20 years, confirmed in writing with the quote.
