On-site respraying of aluminium curtain walling and façade framing for commercial buildings — carried out around your tenants, with no removal and no replacement. UK-wide.
Free site survey and cladding analysis report. No obligation.
The work
Curtain walling is the aluminium framing and glazing system hung off the face of a building. The factory-applied powder coating on that framing has a working life, and after fifteen to twenty-five years of UK weather it chalks, fades and loses its gloss. The frames are structurally sound. They just look finished.
Curtain wall spraying recoats them where they are. We degrease and abrade the aluminium, treat any corrosion, mask the glazing and seals, then spray a two-pack coating on site from powered access or mobile towers. Nothing is dismantled, no glazing comes out, and the building stays open.
Most people who ring us call it curtain walling refurbishment rather than spraying. Same job — and it usually comes out of a planned maintenance budget rather than a capital one.
Proof
Four buildings that stayed in use while we worked on them. Every figure is taken from the project record.

Twenty-three commercial projects are written up in full in our case studies.
Send us photographs, or book the free survey and we will tell you either way.
Occupied buildings
Tenant disruption is the objection we hear first, and it is a fair one. Working on buildings that stay open is what this company is built around.
We run night shifts, weekend work and phased closures, so a floor, an elevation or an entrance is out of use for hours rather than weeks. Work zones are contained and sheeted, the coatings are low-odour, and access, permits and tenant notices are agreed with your facilities team before anyone arrives.
Where a programme has to be short we put more people on it — teams of four to eight sprayers on extended hours, which pulls a typical six-week programme back to two or three.
Night and weekend shifts
Entrances, lifts and car parks stay usable in the working day.
Phased by elevation
One face or floor at a time. The rest carries on as normal.
Access sorted by us
MEWPs and towers, IPAF and PASMA-trained, permits arranged in advance.
Compliance
Everything your procurement team asks for, in writing, before we get on site.
USP Coatings is CHAS accredited and every operative holds a valid CSCS card. We carry £10 million public liability insurance and send the certificate with the quote. Full risk assessments and method statements — RAMS — are issued for approval before any work begins, on every project, without being asked.

We spray aluminium curtain walling, powder-coated framing, spandrel and infill panels, and the cladding around them — composite panels, profiled metal cladding, fibre cement board, steel and render. Where a curtain wall job runs into adjacent cladding spraying, it is the same team and the same visit.
Preparation is where the time goes. The topcoat is a UV-stable commercial system chosen for the substrate and the exposure of the elevation.
A curtain wall is rarely one material. The framing is powder-coated aluminium, the infill panels are often composite, and the cladding around them may be steel. Each needs a different preparation and a different primer, and the exposure of the elevation decides the topcoat.
The specification is confirmed at survey and goes out in writing with the quote.
We match any RAL, BS or NCS reference, including brand and planning-condition colours, and spray out samples on site for sign-off first. The finished system carries a guarantee of up to 20 years.

Sectors
These are the buildings we are on most.
Offices
Single blocks and multi-tenant estates.
Retail parks and shopping centres
Frontages and entrances, worked around trading hours.
Industrial and logistics units
Office frontages and glazed entrances.
Universities, colleges and schools
Phased around term dates.
Hotels and leisure
Buildings that cannot close, worked in the quiet hours.
Healthcare and public buildings
Contained zones, low-odour systems.
Refurbishment
Most of these projects start with a complaint rather than a survey — a tenant, a lettings agent or a director who has noticed that the front of the building no longer matches the business inside it. The framing is usually sound. It is the finish that has aged.
Replacement is a capital project. Refurbishment by spraying is a maintenance one. If the framing is sound and only the finish has failed, the second is usually the right answer.
| Spraying in place | Full replacement | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | A fraction of replacement | £150–£300+ per m² |
| Programme | Weeks | Months |
| Building use | Stays open and occupied | Floors or elevations out of use |
| Glazing | Stays in, masked and protected | Removed and replaced |
| Colour | Any RAL, BS or NCS reference | Limited to system ranges |
| Waste | Existing framing retained | Framing and glazing stripped out |
Spraying does not fix a failed thermal break, a leaking gasket or corroded structure. That is what the survey is for — if replacement is the right call on your building, we will say so.
Cost
Every elevation is different, so the figure comes from the survey. These are the ranges our commercial projects sit inside.
What moves the number: the area of framing, the condition of the existing coating, corrosion treatment, access at height, and whether the work has to happen out of hours. The survey is free and the quote that follows is fixed price.
Procurement
Eight questions worth putting to every quote on your desk. We answer all eight in writing before anyone arrives on site.
If a contractor will not answer these in writing, that is the answer.
FAQs
Yes — that is the speciality. Low-odour coatings, contained work zones, night and weekend shifts.
Most single-building projects run two to four weeks. Multi-building sites are phased across the estate.
Always. RAMS are issued for approval before any work begins, on every project.
